During this fully day out you will get the chance to discover the magnificent city of Malaga, hear about it’s cutlure and history and also have plenty of freetime to explore and shop in the city centre.

On arrival into the city you will be treated to some fantastic panoramic views as the coach meanders past the Alcazaba fortress on it’s on the way up to the  viewpoint at the hilltop Gibralfaro castle. Once back in the city you will be accompanied past some of the most famous landmarks before having freetime to wander and explore this vibrant and exciting city.

Overview

On arrival into the city the coach will meander up past the Alcazaba fortress allowing you to see some of the best views over the city. It will head up to the viewpoint at the hilltop Gibralfaro castle.  A perfect photo opportunity.

Once back down at sea level you will arrive in the Plaza de la Merced and see the 'casa natal' the birthplace of Pablo Picasso.  From here we will wander on foot through the heart of the city passing the stunning 1BC Roman Amphiteatre, El Pimpi, the oldest tapas bar in malaga (owned by Antonio Banderas), and on to the most famous landmark in the city the Plaza de la Constitución (Constitution Square).

There is an optional extra for those of you who wish to visit the Pablo Picasso Museum, here you will get to see some of the greatest works of the 20th century. Get to know the art of Picasso, with over 200 original works. Explore the permanent and temporary exhibitions with an informative audio guide that helps contextualize Picasso's paintings with informative biographical storytelling.  Little wonder this stunning this stunnin 16th century palace is the most visited museum in Andalucia. ç

During this visit you will have plenty of freetime to explore at your own pace, why not visit and try one of these optional extras while you are in the magnificent city of Malaga (entrances and meals/drinks not included);

Malaga Cathedral – “La Manquita” – meaning “The One-Armed Lady” due to its unfinished state, this Roman Catholic church reflects traditional Renaissance architecture

The Pompidou Centre – contemporary art museum – the only branch outside Paris – displaying works including classic art to dance and film and housed in a large, multi-coloured glass cube

El Muelle – (Recreational port area of Malaga), shops, restaurants, boat trips and exhibitions

Constitution Square – Beautiful pedestrianised square, great for people watching, and right at the top of Calle Larios and Malaga old town

Calle Larios – Main Shopping street – beautifully paved in marble with unique architecture; larger multinational stores are on this street with smaller, individual (boutique) shops in the side streets

Malaga tapas bars and eateries – Enjoy some of the best tapas bars in the heart of the old town alongside Calle Larios

Marriot Hotel’s rooftop bar overlooking the port – Take the lift to the 15th floor and enjoy a cocktail from one of the classiest bars in the city

Please note: The time in Malaga is ‘explore on your own’. Your guide will accompany you to the centre of the city and point out the main areas to visit.  For those of you that purchase the option ticket for the Pueblo Picasso Musuem we will accompany you to the musuem and also afterwards you will still have plenty of time to explore the centre at your own pace.

Itinerary

Coach Departs at 10.00 from the main road (A7) bus stop opposite Puerto De La Duquesa in front of Garden Centre (DIRECTION GIBRALTAR). Please arrive 15 minutes before coach departure The coach will then turn and head directly to Malaga where we expect to arrive around 11.30am.  Plenty of freetime to enjoy the festivities in the city The coach will be boarding at 5.30pm for the return to Sabinillas.
